Bergen aan Zee

Bergen aan Zee is a nice town to spend some time in. The tranquillity and the beautiful nature give you a new sense of energy.

What does the beach have to offer?

Bergen is located in the middle of nature. You can reach the beach of Bergen through the beautiful dunes of Noord Kennemerland. It can get pretty crowded here during summertime, but the atmosphere of the small seaside resort remains. Here you have all you need; pavilions, toilets, First-aid and life guards. Of course you can go swimming or sunbathing, but surfers and (catamaran) sailors will not be disappointed either.

A look around town

Bergen is built around a ruin church, which dates back to the 15th century. In the town centre, there are several other monuments to be admired, like Villa Park Meerwijk. Because of its construction, the village appears very peaceful. Partially because of the wide lanes with greenery and large houses with gardens at the edge of the dunes. When you enter the village centre, you will see cosy terraces, cafes and restaurants everywhere. During the months of summer, the town centre serves as scenery for artistic and art markets. In October, the 10 days of Art take place, during which you can enjoy performing arts as well as musical elements.

Sights

Through the years, Bergen has developed itself into a perfect artist village. Performing artists came to the village to find peace and beauty as an inspiration for their work. The Kranenburgh museum shows many pieces of art, originated in Bergen. Near the beach you will find the sea-aquarium, where you can get an image of life in the North Sea and other waters around the world.
